Brief Description of Practice
My approach to therapy includes the following:
A holistic approach that focuses on the family system in its entirety, not just the distressed member. I believe that the family is a fully functioning system, inclusive of all members of the family, and a part of the broader social context. I have over 10 years of experience as a Private Practitioner while intermittently working for Community Mental Health Care Centers (CMHCs) in Houston, Texas, once as a Program Director. I work together with the client(s) to explore and determine each person's growth or disagreement areas, which they want to improve.
Clients can have the following expectations from the sessions:
• A listener of stories; guidance on a journey of discovery and healing.
• A non-directive or directive model, dependent upon the style that fits the individual, couple, family, or professional.
• Respect for family hierarchies, especially authority and values.
• For professionals, a proactive coach who is willing to address the professional's family-of-origin organizational principles in the direction of change.
• Empathy, identifying with children and parents while affirming strengths, monitoring interpersonal distance, and considering each person’s view of reality.
