Workshop Description:

The Friendship Care Space is a thoughtful and real world workshop for mental health professionals who want to better support clients in navigating their friendships. Friendships are a key part of emotional well-being, but they’re often overlooked in therapy. This session brings friendship into focus, highlighting how connection, identity, and communication show up in the therapeutic space.

You’ll walk away with tools to help clients reflect on the quality of their friendships, process friendship loss, and build relationships that feel safe, mutual, and emotionally supportive. We’ll also explore culturally responsive ways to talk about friendship and mental health, especially for clients whose social connections are shifting through life transitions.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

1. Identify the key elements of a healthy friendship and their impact on emotional well-being.

2. Help clients explore their identity and how it shows up in their friendships.

3. Use Narrative Therapy, EFT, and Solution-Focused strategies to support friendship work in session.

4. Discuss culturally responsive ways to support clients through friendship loss, life transitions, and connection-building.
