Description:

Mental healthcare for LGBTQ+ clients has been an evolving part of our field, from the days of medically modeled treatment to a more community led standard of care. Changes in terminology over time, and increased legislative scrutiny, present challenges for all clinicians wanting to provide quality, and dignified, services. In this presentation, we will be exploring some of the history of LGBTQ+ counseling, while also receiving current information on complex issues such as navigating advocacy in an rapidly changing socio-political climate.
